Thank you to all who attended our AGM, we managed to keep the formalities very brief, taking around 10 minutes, before having an fascinating short slide show by Terry Moyle, who is going to give us a longer show later in 2017. Jan, Paddy and Doreen again laid on an excellent buffet (thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in), which was enjoyed by everyone judging by all the empty plates.
Our next meeting will be on Monday 9th January 2017 at 8pm in the Horton Kirby Jubilee Hall (next to the Village Hall) and the speaker will be Dr Ann Kneif who will be telling us about “The Women’s Land Army” which should be very interesting as the Land Army served in both WW1 and WW2.
Our 2017 schedule:
13th March To Wilhelm with Love – Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Somme – Steve Hookins
8th May The Incredible Shrinking Parish of Stone – Christoph Bull
10th July Old Dartford & District – Terry Moyle
11th September Queen Victoria – Anne Carter
13th November AGM a short talk by Malcolm Scott and the Cheese & Wine Evening

John Woodhead is currently working on the new walking tour guide to Horton Kirby and South Darenth, and that will be available soon. We are also going to be producing a book on the villages during World War 1 and the men commemorated on the War Memorial, including the men on the Farningham Home for Little Boys Roll of Honour. If anyone has any information or photos they would like to share with us, please do contact us.
