Newsletter No. 113 – September 2015

Our July meeting was a talk by Chris Baker called “Keep the Home Fires Burning Dartford 1914-1918”, and it gave a fascinating insight into what was happening in the town during WW1, with munitions manufacturing, the Joyce Green aerodrome, hospitals for wounded soldiers of different nationalities, POW camps and zeppelin raids interrupting normal life.

Our next meeting will be on Monday 14th September at 8pm in the Horton Kirby Village Hall. Our speaker will be Steve Hookins and the topic is “Waterloo 200”.

Please note that subscriptions are now due for the year 2015-2016 (these can be paid at our meetings) and they have now risen to:
Single £7
Joint £10

Forthcoming meetings are as follows:
9th November AGM, a short talk by Sarah Lewis & Stephen de Winton or an exhibition, and the legendary Cheese & Wine Evening
